YORBA LINDA (AP) - Investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine how a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy died in the Cleveland National Forest.
Zoltan Tombol was reported missing Sunday after he reportedly went for a run outside Corona in Riverside County. Searchers found his body off a trail Tuesday afternoon.
A spokeswoman for the Riverside County sheriff's office said Wednesday she did not know if the body had any signs of trauma. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Dennis Gutierrez says determining the cause of death may depend on toxicology tests, which could take six to eight weeks.
The 42-year-old Tombol was a 19-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. His wife says he was an avid jogger and hiker.
