Cheney: US at Risk If Obama Changes Bush Policy

WASHINGTON  -  Vice President Dick Cheney said Wednesday that President-elect Barack Obama will jeopardize national security if he does not embrace the terror-fighting policies implemented by President George W. Bush.

``It would be my personal view, if they don't continue those policies they will, in fact, put the nation at risk,'' Cheney said in an interview with PBS' ``The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer.'' ``We'll see.''

Cheney said Obama is reading daily intelligence reports, learning about the nature of the threat and trying to decide to do about the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the terrorist surveillance program and the program to use harsh interrogation techniques on high-value terror suspects.

``It will be interesting to see how he resolves those,'' Cheney said.
