Current Contract Expires June 30

LOS ANGELES  -  A person familiar with efforts by the Screen Actors Guild and Hollywood studios to reach a contract deal says the union has accepted an offer to resume negotiations.

The person who was not authorized to publicly comment and requested anonymity says the talks will resume by May 28.

The two sides temporarily parted ways last week after 18 days of talks on a contract covering movies and prime-time TV shows that ends June 30.

The studios, represented by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, are currently negotiating with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists for a contract covering a handful of TV shows.
