Hollywood Police Station Standoff Ends Peacefully

LOS ANGELES - A 6-hour-long standoff between officers and a man holding a gun to his head at a Hollywood police station has ended.

Officer Kate Lopez says the roughly 65-year-old man was taken into custody shortly after 7 a.m. Friday without incident.

Police say the man walked into the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station at around 1 a.m. Friday and remained there with the gun against his head as police tried to talk him out of suicide.

Lopez had no details of the man's identity or his reasons for threatening suicide.

Officials say the standoff did not affect the station's regular operations.
