WASHINGTON (AP) - A good deal for first-time homebuyers may be available a little longer.
The $8,000 tax credit for first time homebuyers is set to expire at the end of November, but there's a move on Capitol Hill to extend it through the middle of next year.
Sen. Johnny Isakson calls it a once in a lifetime opportunity and anyone interested needs to act.
The extended tax credit is being folded into a bill that would extend jobless benefits, with a Senate vote on final passage set for the coming week.
In addition to extending the $8,000 tax credit for first time homebuyers, senators are pushing a smaller tax credit for people already in their first home who'd like to move up.
Isakson says they had to live in that house for at least the last five years.
